Idaho murder updates: Moscow police spark confusion over ‘targeted’ attack as crime scene results come back

Idaho student killings: Police believe four people were killed in ‘targeted attack’

Police are investigating the brutal murders of four University of Idaho the students sowed confusion over whether or not the killings were “targeted”, as they accused the local prosecutor of “miscommunication”.

Since Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kerndole and Ethan Chapin were stabbed to death on Nov. 13, investigators have claimed the attacks were “targeted.”

On Wednesday, Latah County District Attorney Bill Thompson said in interviews that “may not be the best word to use” before saying “the attack was aimed at a specific person.”

Hours later, Moscow Police said officials “do not currently know if the residence or any occupants were specifically targeted” and that Mr Thompson’s comments were the result of “miscommunication”.

The flashback comes as the first lab results from the crime scene came back and the families of the victims gave emotional speeches at a vigil on the college campus on Wednesday night.

Goncalves’ father Steve Goncalves vowed to “get our justice” and revealed his daughter died in the same bed as his best friend Mogen.

First crime scene lab results come back – two weeks after murders

The first results from the crime scene lab have started to come back – more than two weeks after the quadruple murders that rocked the university town of Moscow.

Idaho State Police Communications Director Aaron Snell told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that investigators are beginning to receive forensic test results.

“I know every type of test… some take longer than others. And I also know that there have been results that have been returned and those are going directly to the investigators, so that they can help, again, paint the picture that we keep talking about,” he said. -he declares.

Mr Snell declined to reveal whether DNA not belonging to the four victims or the two surviving housemates had been found at the crime scene, as it is hoped forensics can finally provide clues to lead police to the killer.

More than two weeks after the murders, investigators still have no suspects on their radar.

But, despite the lack of concrete leads in the case, police are concluding the investigation into the three-storey house in King Road where the brutal murder took place.

Victim’s father reveals she died in the same bed as her best friend

The grieving father of one of four slain University of Idaho students has revealed his daughter was found dead in the same bed as her lifelong best friend.

Steve Goncalves, whose 21-year-old daughter, Kaylee Goncalves, was stabbed to death on November 13, gave a heartbreaking speech at a vigil for victims on Wednesday night where he said he was reassured to learn that she was with her best friend Madison Mogen until the very end.

Mr Goncalves told how the “absolutely beautiful” young women first met in sixth grade and became inseparable.

“They just got together and every day they did their homework together, they came to our house together, they shared everything,” he said.

“Then they started looking at colleges, they came here together. They end up moving into the same apartment together.

“And in the end, they died together, in the same room, in the same bed.”

The devastated father, whose family also saw Mogen as a daughter, said while “it hurts” there is a certain “beauty” in knowing the pair were together when they died.

“The beauty of the two still being together is something that will bring us comfort, it will let us know that they were with their best friends all over the world,” he said.

“It’s like a book, it’s like some kind of terrible chapter but there’s beauty in it. And we’re going to get justice, we’re going to get this stuff figured out. This community deserves it.
