Jessie James Decker responded to criticism from online trolls after she was accused of photographing her young children’s abdominal muscles in a photo shared from their vacation in Mexico.
The country music singer She initially had no intention of remedying the “crazy” situation when she innocently posted family photos from their Thanksgiving vacation, but the reactions to the images prompted Decker to stand up for her children.
“Being accused of photographing my kids’ abs (can’t help but laugh) or…the polar opposite of our kids’ ‘overtraining’ makes me realize how weird our world has become when it comes to body and what’s normal and what’s not,” she captioned a video of her three children enjoying their time off from school.
Over the weekend, Decker drew the attention of social media users to her children: Vivianne, 8, Eric Jr., 7, and Forrest, 4.
The little ones are just as fit as their parents, prompting a few Instagram followers to call out Decker for possibly editing the pictures.
“We preach about body positivity and acceptance, but my kids have a massive amount of muscle that’s genetic and built through athletics, is that ‘weird’? I want to raise my kids to be proud of their bodies and hard work from elite competitive gymnastics Vivis to Eric Jr wants to be like dad as NFL wide receiver to little Forrest who spends hours dancing his heart out,” she wrote.
“Let’s not choose what we normalize about bodies and accept all people and all children. If we want to do ‘better’, then do better.”
Decker added, “I’m proud of my kids and I encourage them to live their dreams. So we’ll all see each other at the 2032 Olympics, and wearing the Bubbys jersey in the stands and dancing at the Forrests rock concert.”
“Decker vacation style,” she first captioned the photo, which received far more praise than backlash.
Kane Brown joked, “Just wait till I start doing 2 a day. They’re ripped!”
Former New England Patriots star Julian Edelman wrote: “How crazy are those little dowel muffins.”
Selma Blair added, “I love those smiles. The strength. So in their bodies. Fun goals.”
“Surely it’s an app, but I don’t see anyone saying the same,” one user captioned her photo.
“Yeah I used an ‘ab’ app on my grandkids wtf,” fired back Decker, who garnered over 1,000 likes.
When another follower asked how her daughter got a six-pack, Decker was quick to reply, “She’s a gymnast. She loves it and puts her heart into it.”
Jessie and Eric got married in 2013 while the football star was playing for the Denver Broncos.
