Jay Leno wastes no time getting back on this proverbial horse.
Just a day later get out of the hospital — where he was being treated for severe burns caught in a car fire – the comedian was spotted returning to the scene of the freak accident.
In photos obtained exclusively by Page Six, Leno, 72, is seen entering his famous Los Angeles garage, where he stores his dozens of prized vintage vehicles, in a Mercedes-Benz E55 on Tuesday.
scars of third-degree burns to face and hands was clearly visible as he took the wheel again.
“[I’m] hanging there. Everything is fine,” Leno told a photographer before confirming that he was still planning to perform his previously scheduled show at the Comedy & Magic Club on Sunday.
As previously reported, the former ‘Tonight Show’ host was working on his white 1907 steam car in his garage when a fuel leak and a simultaneous spark in the 115-year-old automobile triggered an explosion.
He was immediately transported to the Grossman Burn Center and remained there for 10 days to treat burns to his face, chest and hands.
Among the various forms of treatment he received were two transplant procedures to remove unhealthy tissue and promote healing, and numerous hyperbaric chamber sessions to decrease swelling, increase blood flow and kill bacteria.
The “Jay Leno’s Garage” host “will receive follow-up care at the Grossman Outpatient Burn Clinic,” the doctors said in a press release Monday.
Dr. Peter Grossman personally added that he was “pleased” with Leno’s progress and was “optimistic” the comic will make a full recovery.
“As I get to know Jay, I don’t think it’s going to take months,” Grossman explained. “I think he’s the kind of guy that’s going to move on.”
Leno himself make the same prediction in a statement to Page Six just a day after the horrific ordeal.
“I had severe burns from a gasoline fire,” he explained on November 14. “I’m fine. I just need a week or two to get back on my feet.
