MLB’s 12-team postseason bracket has already been whittled down to eight contenders. Now the top two seeds from each league have joined the fray in the Division Series. After advancing directly to their ALDS and NLDS slots via byes, the Astros, Yankees, Dodgers and brave face challengers.
Game 1 saw the Braves fall behind the brave Philliesand Astros snatch victory from Mariners in heroic and historic fashionwhile the Dodgers and Yankees took care of business. The schedule begins staggering leagues on Wednesday. The NL resumes with Game 2, but the AL takes a day off before resuming on Thursday.

Padres same streak with Dodgers in frustrating game for LA
The San Diego Padres will go home with the NLDS even against the Los Angeles Dodgers after a home-and-away game that saw big missed opportunities for the 111-win team. The Padres won 5-3.
Manny Machado opened the scoring with a home run and the Padres added two more runs in the third against Clayton Kershaw, who allowed three earned runs in five innings (take that as you will, narratively). The Dodgers tied the first score with a solo homer against Yu Darvish in each of the first three innings.
The Padres took another lead when an error from Trea Turner on a potential double play allowed a point to score (they would have had more if it hadn’t been for the brilliant plays of Brusdar Graterol and Cody Bellinger). The Dodgers, however, never responded.
It wasn’t for lack of opportunity, as the Dodgers went 0-for-6 with runners in the running position and blocked seven on base. Four of those at-bats came in the sixth and seventh innings, just after the Padres took the lead.
But at least there was a goose.
brave, Kyle Wright stifle Phillies to shoot even in NLDS
Score another win for Braves starter Kyle Wright. MLB wins with 21 regular season wins, Wright outlasts Phillies Zack Wheeler in a stellar pitching duel in NLDS Game 2. He allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings.
The Braves didn’t reach Wheeler until the bottom of the sixthgiving the Phillies a dose of their own medicine by stringing together three hits with two outs. Matt OlsonAustin Riley and Travis d’Arnaud each singled for three runs, and the Braves bullpen held it.
The series travels to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Friday. The Phillies will send Aaron Nola to the mound, fresh off dominating performances in the wild-card series and his final regular-season start. The Braves haven’t technically announced a starter, but this could be the game where flamethrower rookie Spencer Strider returns after an oblique injury.
