Lady Angela Lansbury Her beautiful voice and the enchanting roles she played may be best remembered, but she also died after being a fiercely protective parent, keeping her daughter away from infamous murderer and cult leader Charles Manson.
In a candid interview with the 2014 Daily Mail, Lansbury shared that her daughter Deirdre Shaw got involved with the wrong crowd.
“It pains me to say this but, at one point, Deidre was with a crowd led by Charles Manson. She was one of many young people who knew him – and they were fascinated. He was an extraordinary character, charismatic in many ways, no doubt about it.”
Lansbury reveals that his daughter and son Anthony had experimented with drugs.

“Certainly, I have no doubt that we would have lost one or both of them if they hadn’t been transferred to a completely different medium,” she revealed.
“It started with cannabis but moved on to heroin. There were factions in the hills above Malibu that were dedicated to deadly pursuits,” she said of her children’s habits. .
Once she found out how harmful the activities were, she revealed, “‘I said to [husband] Peter, ‘We have to go.’ So we raised the sticks and moved the family to a house I found in County Cork. I was drawn to Ireland because it was my mother’s birthplace and it was also a place where my children would no longer be exposed to bad influences.”

“Anthony quickly gave up his bad habits. It took Deidre…a little longer but she eventually got married and she and her husband now live in LA where they run their own Italian restaurant,” he said. she told the UK outlet.

Lansbury revealed: “It fills me with dread”, reflecting on what might have happened to her children had she not initiated the move to Ireland. “Peter and I had no idea what happened. But we had no experience with drugs. We didn’t know what it meant to find a pipe in a drawer. Why would we? I didn’t know how to help them either. There were also no experts at the time who could advise parents of children from good families who used and sometimes overdosed on drugs. It was like an epidemic.
Charles Manson was the leader of the Manson family, a cult that committed several murders.

The Lansbury children wrote in a statement on Tuesday that “in addition to her three children, Anthony, Deirdre and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Ian, as well as five great-grandchildren. and his brother, producer Edgar Lansbury.”
A private funeral for the family will take place for the 96-year-old legend.
